Old Fashioned Hot Cocoa Is The Only Way To Really Warm ‘Em Up

Snowy days, ice skating, building snowmen, and racing down a hill on a sled are all the perfect set up for steamy Rich Hot Cocoa in giant mugs. It gets dark awfully early in the winter which could make kids kind of cranky having to stop playing outside and come in the house. What I like to do is have the cocoa all set on top of the stove, call the kids in, and the aroma makes coming in early all better. Then, after they shed their boots, hats, and mittens, they sit down and warm their little hands, and bellies, with their own favorite mug filled with cocoa and topped with a few marshmallows for good measure.

I know you can buy pre-packaged hot chocolate mixes, but the old fashioned recipes are always the best. It’s not just because they are inexpensive beverage recipes, but because they taste better. When you use whole foods like real milk and cocoa, you just end up with a richer, tastier drink. It’s thicker, creamier, and more chocolaty… so what more could you want? If you’re going to treat your family, or yourself, to a hot cup of cocoa, make it worth the effort!
