The Golden Hinoki Cypress, or the chamecyparis obtuse compacta “aurea” as the scientists call it, is an outdoor bonsai tree that is an evergreen. This means it will keep its amazing green leaves all year around, but it’s not a bonsai you’ll see in every collection. It’s actually kind of rare, which is odd since it is a great looking bonsai with fan-like, golden green colored leaves. The leaves are actually tinted and edged with a bit of blue on the undersides, adding even more color to them. My best friend loves dogs and cats. She has 5 adopted dogs and 3 cats, so finding her a gift to symbolize them all is a real challenge.
